The Ultimate Birthday Gift

Today marks my 31st birthday. While there certainly isn’t anything particularly special about this birthday, I am lucky enough to have been gifted the best news…

After 18 months of craziness post MS diagnosis including 5 MRIs – all with unfavorable results – I was finally told this week that my MRI was stable and the disease was under control. My new medication, Tysabri, is working.

Tears instantly came down my face as I was told the news. I was so happy.

I dreaded seeing my doctor’s name pop up as an incoming call because you never know what news he will share. But, the relief I felt was unexplainable as I listened while taking my daughter and dog out for our morning walk.

30 was a year of change and acceptance. I became a mom, quit my job and started a new, very different type of life. I often question what’s next for my career but reminders like this make me take a step back and think about what’s truly important in my life. It reminds me to enjoy the every pleasures that are gifted with stable health.

Its been a wonderful birthday weekend on top of it all. I had a special dinner with Bill, celebrated with some friends and woke up to the best cards from my babes. Looking forward to a day with my family… I couldn’t feel more blessed. Thank you for all the birthday wishes.
