It’s time to trade in the workout clothes and au natural look, for a fresh, new summer ‘do as I head back to the real world next week. I’ve been on maternity leave all summer so, as you can imagine, my appearance hasn’t exactly been my top priority. But, I always think that how you look ultimately affects how you feel and I needed a change to perk me up as I head back to the office.
For the cut, I wanted to keep some length but it needed more volume and dimension. My stylist, Carla, took off 2 inches and added some loose layers with an undercut (essentially thinned out my hair underneath so it wasn’t so heavy). She also added in some soft face framing layers to create more movement. Then, to finish me off, she added loose waves to give my stick straight hair some style.
I’ve been doing highlights since I was born (OK, since I was 12) so they are always part of my routine. Highlights add brightness and dimension to my natural, dark brown hair. I usually opt for “a partial” instead of full highlights because I like the dark contrast with the blonde pieces. Thank you @carla_redels for my new summer look! If anyone is looking for a stylist in Chicago, I highly recommend her!
