Fall is in the air! Check out some simple ways you can add a seasonal punch to your home.
Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Even though the weather hasn’t quite turned yet, the leaves have and autumn colors are everywhere – including our home. Incorporating seasonal decorations is one of the ways I like to cozy up our house. It not only gets you into the spirit of the season but makes your space warm and inviting.
When getting into any new season, I try to incorporate items that still blend with our furniture and style and avoid overtly festive items. For example, even though Halloween is around the corner and bright orange is in swing, I’ve aimed for softer autumn colors in the same orange family and mix in subtle, complimentary colors like gold and silver for variety.
I also love mixing in squashes, pumpkins and colorful leaves, and aim for a variety of items – all different shades of colors, textures and heights – when putting together displays or tablescapes. Before going out to buy anything, I like to take inventory of what I have first – vases, candles and bowls are all things you likely already own so mix in other seasonal items around those.
Here are 5 ways to “fall-ify” your home
1) Your Entry Way
A mantle is a great place to display seasonal items. It’s important to make sure to incorporate items with mixed heights so there’s balance and to showcase tallest items on the ends.
There’s so much you can do with your tablescape but I tend to stick with a large focal point, like the bowl below with assorted squashes
4) Seasonal Dish or Candy
Incorporate a seasonal dish or candy (or both!), like candy corn, on a side or coffee table.
Whether it’s fall flowers, leaves or pumpkins, you can include touches of the season on side tables, in your powder room or on your kitchen counter.
