How I Instantly Transformed Our Old Couch

I’m loving my new pillows from The Pillows Collection that have totally transformed the look of our couch– all without breaking the bank! Check out how their chic, stylish, high-quality pillows have made over our space. 

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll know that I am knee deep in a basement renovation! Chloe is becoming super active, crawling around and climbing on top of everything, so we decided to finally update our basement and make it into a playroom for her and a comfortable, relaxing space for us.But, here’s the thing – basement makeovers are expensive. Between painting, new carpet and furniture, it all adds up, so we needed to prioritize what needed to be done first. As much as I wanted a new, modern couch, I didn’t want to pay ($$$$) to replace our existing one. While the one we have is not what I would exactly like, it’s totally functional, neutral and super comfortable.. BUT it needed something!

In comes The Pillow Collection to the rescue…

Pillows can totally transform your existing furniture without breaking the bank. They can add so much vibrancy and depth, and instantly make a boring couch look super chic, stylish and cozy.

There are a lot of pillow options out there but I chose The Pillow Collection for a few reasons:

• Quality items for a fair price – I heard from a friend that they had gorgeous fabrics and patterns but I was blown away by the richness of the colors, feel of the fabric and level of customer service I received.
• Customization opportunities – You can order any pillow in ANY size – from 18″ x 18″ to 24″ x 24″ to lumbar 12″ x 18″ (which is like the couch pillow below). Plus, you can order with or without the pillow insert if you’re only looking for a new cover (how awesome is that!?)

When figuring out how to select new pillows for my space, I reached out to local home designer, Jennifer Franklin from JF Interior Designs, who offered me some invaluable advice:

“When choosing throw pillows, I use a simple “3 pillow rule”: one pattern pillow, one solid pillow and one textured pillow. The pattern pillow can be any pattern of your choosing which will add definition to the trio. The solid should be a featured accent color used throughout the room. The textured one is like the fun friend we all have – adding a bit of fun to the room! Try beading, felt wool or fur details.”- Jennifer Franklin, JF Interior Designs

So, I went with these three awesome pillows: Jasper Solid Blue, Valeska Faux Fur, and Pertessa Geometric Pillow Blush for our couch and the Parvaneh Geometric pillow for our side chairs.

Rather than just get throw pillows, we swapped out a few of the back, main couch cushion pillows to make them seem like they’re apart of the couch. (Btw- I love that The Pillow Collection allows you to just buy covers like I did here since I already had the pillow inserts from the couch (save $$ however you can!!))

We couldn’t be happier with the final product! Excited to now tackle the rest of the basement. Stay tuned!
